Rara lake Trekking
A trek to Rara lake is one of the most incredible and fascinating destination in all the Himalayan range lie northwest of Kathmandu in the remote area of Karnali district. November and April will be the best time to visit birds and wildlife during their seasonal migration.
The route is very much “off the beaten track” and affords glimpses of cultures and scenery very different from the rest of Nepal. Suggested Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu-Nepalgunj ( 150m./495ft.) 40 minutes by flight
Fly to Nepalgunj, which is located to the Indian border in the western Terai. Stay overnight there at hotel.

Day 2: Nepalgunj - Jumla over flight and trek to Chere Chaur (3055m./10081ft.) 2 hours walk
We fly morning to Jumla. It is town which is in a valley and their paddy is cultivated (making Jumla the highest place on earth where it is grown). We begin our trek today towards Chere Chaur. We leave Jumla and ascend to Chere Chaur along the Jugad Khola. We pass Khalanga Bazzar, a small market place for the nearby villages. We walk through a couple of villages and a temple before reaching our destination.

Day 3: Chere Chaur - Chalachaur (2980m/9,777ft) 5 hours walk
The trail lead us to west and ascend slowly until the Jaljala pass (3580m). After we cross the pass, continue walk on a relatively straight trail until reaching Jaljala Chaur. We ascend on a steep trail and enter the Rara Lake Circuit before reaching Chalachaur.

Day 4: Chalachaur - Sinja Valley (2490m/8217ft.) 5 hours walk
We walk through several villages and pass the Jaljala Khola (stream). Sinja Valley is the historical place of Nepal. This is the ancient capital city of the Khasa Kingdom that ruled this area from the 12th to the 14th century. Palaces, temples, and the ancient remains of a settlement were uncovered during excavations spearheaded by the Department of Archaeology at Cambridge University.

Day 5: Sinja - Ghorosingha (3050m/10007ft.) 5 hours walk
Leaving Sinja on an uphill trail alongside Hima River, We climb on a steep trail for a while followed by a relatively easy trail until Laha Village. Continue climb up until Ghorosingha alongside Ghatte khola (stream).

Day 6: Ghorosingha - Rara Lake (3010m/9876ft) 4 hours walk
After breakfast, We ascend steep up. Our trail is alongside Chuchhemara Danda from where we get to admire the Himalayan panorama, the vast and tranquil Rara Lake, and the lush vegetation of the Rara National Park. We pass Khatyar Khola Camp and a few villages including Murma then we gradually ascend towards Chapri village which houses the Rara National Park Head Quarter.

Day 7: Rara Lake exploration
Rest day and explore Rara area- Rara area was designated a National Park in 1975 and it takes about eight hours to walk round the lake. Now have two days set aside to explore the area, including the old village of Rara. We can also climb up to the wooden observation tower behind the post office for fine views of the lake and surrounding hills.

Day 8: Rara Lake - Pina (2440m/ 8006ft.) 5 hours walk
The trail is easy and we walk on a relatively straight path until Gamgadhi which is the headquarters of the remote Mugu District of Nepal. We descend on a steep trail to Pina Village.

Day 9: Pina - Bumra (2850m/9351ft.) 6 hours walk
We descend and cross the Ghurchi Lagna pass at 3480 m. again descent and pass through a few villages. The Bumra village is called as Nauri Ghat.

Day 10: Bumra - Jumla (2540m/8334ft) 5 hours walk
At the begining of day, we cross two suspension bridges above Hima River and walk downhill. We get an apportunity to a hot spring where we can ease our aching body with a dip. We cross Danphe Lagna pass at 3691 m. We follow the same trail begun our journey and reach Jumla.

Day 11: Jumla - Nepalgunj by flight and connection flight to Kathmandu
We take the earliest flight available to Nepalgunj . After reaching Nepalgunj, we will have connection flight to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.

Rara National Park fee
Rara Lake trekking is inside the Rara National park area. You either can pay fee at Nepal Tourism Board or directly along the trek. The cost of national park fee is fixed NRs. 1500 per person for SAARC country, NRs. 3300 per person for foreigners and below 10 years child are free. You need a passport copy and cash in NRs. to obtain it. We have included in our service.

Acute mountain sickness is an illness that can affect trekkers at high altitudes, usually above 8,000 feet (2,400 meters). The highest point is Numa la pass which is elevated at 5310 meter. If you be precautious about high altitude and follow our guide then you can avoid it.
Your symptoms will also depend on the speed of your climb and how hard you push (exert) yourself. Symptoms are as below:

Diamox may be given to help you breathe better. It can help reduce mild symptoms. This medicine can make you urinate more often. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and avoid alcohol when taking this drug. This medication works best when taken before reaching a high altitude.

Owing to a sudden change in climate, altitude and other factors, it is obvious that there could arise some alterations in your health. It would be hard to know all aspects of Nepal's health problems.You will be eating and drinking in various outlets. Diarrhea is a common illness that a tourist would be facing. So, it is recommended to drink purified water and eat in clean outlets. Drinking and eating precautions will surely help to take care of many health problems that could arise during the trip. Staying hydrated during the travel, trekking, tours is highly recommended too. If any problem should arise during the trip. Physical Condition & Experience RequirementsRara Lake Trekking is easy level of trek, suitable for passionate walkers who have the ability to walk at least 5-6 hours a day with a light rucksack. As we will get the highest elevation 3475 meter, you are preferred an excellent health with average physical fitness, have a positive attitude and strong determination, we can accomplish the trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly is good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip.
