Paldor Peak Climbing with Ruby Valley Trek

Paldor lies at the south-east end of Ganesh Himal marking the junction of the Tiru and Karpu Dandas at the head of the Mailung Khola, a tributary of the Trisuli  River. The name Ganesh is taken from the elephant-headed Hindu god of good luck, probably the most popular deity in the Kathamndu valley. On a clear day the Ganesh Himal, with the icy fangs of Pabil (7,101m / 23,300ft), Logsang Karpo (7,150m / 23,458ft), Ganesh I (7,406m / 24,298ft) and Ganesh V (6,950m / 22,802ft) can be seen forming an imposing backdrop to the north-west of Kathamndu.

The quickest approach to Paldor and Ganesh Himal is from Sabru near Dunche in the Trisuli valley which can be reached in a 6 to 8 hours drive from Kathmandu. From here the trail crosses the Langtang Khola to Sabrubesi. After crossing the Bhote Kosi river the route leads via Tamang villages of Tangjet and Gatlang, then heads northwards along the ridge before dropping into the forest above Mailung Khola to pick up the newly built road that leads to an army post. The moraine filled valley below Paldor is eached from here. We end the trekking through another part of Ganesh himal which is well known for  Ganesh himal Home stay trekking. It offers the client meetings with typical real Nepalese people which also could be called an educational or cultural tour. You will stay near local people's houses where you find their familiar environment, so that you will see Nepalese people's real lifestyle.  You will have face to face interaction with them.

Lie Ping Tang & Robert
USA

A wonderful & interesting trek overall. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances ( heavy snow fall & Lie ping with a bad cold) we were unable to cross the Ganja la pass. However, our guide Simbir offered us as alternative trek which took us on a difference journey of Nepal. We had the opportunity to visit & stay in many local villages and meet Tamang, Gurung people experience, their lifestyle and culture. We visited our guide’s home town of Chalishgaun and timed it right to join in with Diwali celebrations!

The Trek was an amazing experience and Simbir really provided an inside perspective to village life and was very patient with me as a first trek trekker. Hari did a wonderful job as well. Condition were a little more tough than I expected and I wished I could have done much more to help the villagers who took me in as “ Didi”. Thanks you so much for sharing your lives with me and I will never forget of well arranged the trip by Nepal alternative treks.
