Lahul - Spiti motor bike tour 

This itinerary has been designed keeping in view the timings of the expedition. Kunzum Pass(4551m) in Lahaul-Spiti area can get snow fall any day after mid September. We cross this pass in the beginning of the tour. You will get ample time to get acclimatized for this unforgettable adventure of your life. Kinnaur-Spiti is one of the most popular routes in India for the bikers. It is tough and challenging, beautiful and breathtaking, a journey which you will always remember. 

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1. Delhi. Arrive Delhi.

Transfer hotel Shangri La or equivalent. The temprature in Delhi will be in mid30s, you will be taking rest in your five star accommodation. In the evening, you will be visitng India Gate, President Palace and Parliamnet House. Enjoy shopping in Cannaught Place. Overnight hotel.

Day 2. Delhi-Chandigarh.

Depart by morning Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabadi which leaves New Delhi railway station at 7.30am and arrives Chandigarh at 11.00am, transfer hotel Taj or equivalent. You will be given your bikes, in the evening explore the beautiful city, visiting Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake and famous shopping centre sector 17. Overnight hotel.

Day 3. Chandigarh-Mandi(200km).

After early breakfast, start your ride to Mandi (5-6 hrs). The road is good with not much traffic. You will see many small villages and towns along this route. The major towns are Pinjore, Nalagarh, Swarghat, Bilaspur and Sunder Nagar. Since it is your first day of ride, we will be going at comfortable speed, stopping after every two hours for tea/coffee or small refreshments. Enjoy lunch at Lake View Café in Bilaspur(160km). Reach Mandi in the evening. Check into hotel Valley View. Overnight hotel.

Day 4. Mandi-Manali(2050m).

After breakfast, start your journey towards Manali(110km). Today you will ride 3-4 hrs. It is a national highway so the road is good and wide at most of the places. A big dam comes 17km enroute to Manali which is called Pundoh dam. The road goes along river Beas after the dam. Then a 3 km lond tunnel comes which every traveler admires. Bhuntar airport and Kullu come on the way. Kullu is a district town, thickly populated and 40km away from Manali. Reach Manali in the afternoon. Check into Banon Resorts. Evening free. Overnight hotel.

Day 5. Manali.

 It is a spectacular place full of nature and rich in culture. Explore Manali. Visit Hadimba temple and old Manali in the morning and in the afternoon Nagar Castle and Roerich art galary at Nagar, 22km from manali. Overnight hotel.

Day 6. Manali-Chhatru (81km).

After breakfast, starts ride to Lahaul valley. Cross Rohtang Pass (3950m) 51km, further rid down to Grumphu (13km). This is a highway which goes to Leh. You will turn right from Grumphu, river Chandra flows along the route here. Reach Chhatru (17km), a small village. The temperature will be low here in the evening. Overnight camping at this place for acclimatization.

Day 7. Chhatru-Kaza(119km).

Start your ride after early breakfast. Stop for tea at Batal (29km), cross Kunzum Pass (4551m), 12km. Stop at Loser(18km) at the check point . Enjoy packed lunch with hot tea. Reach Kaza(3600m) 52km, in the early evening. Overnight hotel Spiti.

Day 8. Kaza. Today you will be exploring the incredible landscaping of this amazing place, visiting Kibber village(4205m) (19km) and Kie monastery (12km). Evening free for personal activities. Overnight hotel.

Day 9. Kaza-Nako(2950m). (121km app) 7- 8 hrs ride.

Today’s ride will be very picturesque, nature at its best. Enjoy lunch at Tabo(3050m), 52km. Visit Tabo monastery. Reach Nako in the evening. It is a small village with a beautiful small lake in the middle of it and scenery around this place is out of the world. Overnight Camping.

Day 10. Nako-Kalpa(2960m). (122km) 6-7 hrs ride.

River Satluj continuously flows along the road and you cross deep gorges and dry high mountains. Road is good but narrow at most of the places. In fact, it can be called one way route and by chance there is a big vehicle like a bus or a truck breakdown, then the traffic on both the sides remains at standstill. So you have to prepare yourself for any such incident, especially on this route. Since it is very close to the border with Tibet, you will see many army establishments. You will be reaching Kalpa in the afternoon. The major towns come on the route are Pooh and Reckong Peo, from here you go up to Kalpa (13km). Kalpa is a very beautiful place, lush green with thick forests and water falls and snow peaked high mountains. Overnight hotel.

Day 11. Kalpa-Sangla(2680m).(51km) 3hrs ride.

We will start after early breakfast. Reach Sangla in the noon. Enjoy hot lunch. Ride again to Chitkul(26km), the last village. Enjoy a short soft trekking here. Come back to Sangla. Overnight camping.

Day 12. Sangla-Narkanda (2708m).(167km).

It is 6-7 hrs ride. Rampur (99km), enjoy lunch in this big city. The temperature will be little high here as the altitude of this place is only 924m. You will see, along side the road one of the biggest river in North India Satluj flows. The landscaping is breathtaking. You will go up to Narkanda, a small town, rich in culture. Overnight Hotel.

Day 13. Narkanda- Shimla (2205m)(64km).

After breakfast, start your ride to Shimla, 3-4 hrs ride. Shimla is the capital of the state of Himachal Pradesh. It was summer capital of British India. You can find many old buildings, built in British era. Another big town Fagu comes on this route (42km). Your bike tour ends here. Check into hotel Asia the down. Visit the famous Mall and the Ridge in the evening. You will see beautiful old Church here. Overnight hotel.

Day 14. Shimla-Delhi.

 After breakfast, take toy train from Shimla to Kalka, 5-6 hrs. This train ride is very popular in this area which was built by the British India, it goes through nearly 100 small and big tunnels. Reach Kalka, a small city in the evening and take Shababadi Express for Delhi. The trains arrives delhi at 9.30pm. Transfer hotel Shangri La or equivalent. Overnight hotel.

Day 15. Departure.

 Fly back to your destination.

The itinerary is made for two weeks from Saturday to Saturday so that when you go back to your destination, you have Sunday to prepare yourself for the next week.
