Ghale Gaun home stay trekking is a model trek for experiencing the typical culture and lifestyles of the Gurung people. Traditional customs are still followed during births, deaths, marriages and in other rituals. Age old cultural dances like Jyaure, serka, dohori, Ghatu, Sorathi, Jhankri etc are performed on various occasions accompanied by different musical instruments and with the dancers in traditional dress.

They nestle amidst mountains, rivers, streams, waterfalls and green forests. These places command a superb breathtaking view of majestic western Himalayas including Machhapuchhare(6693m) Annapurna(8091m), Annapurna II (7939m) Annapurna IV (7525m), Lamjung Himal, Bouddha Himal((6974m), Himalchuli (6440m) and many more smaller peaks. Ghan Pokhara is a wonderful experience in itself as it goes crossing over the Marsyandi, Khudi and Midim rivers; passing through rhododendrons blossoming along the way amidst the chirping of birds and wild insects.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 : Kathmandu arrival
Arriving in Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), you will be met by a Nepal Alternative Treks airport representative. Transfer by Private car/ Van (depends on size of group) to the selected hotel ( Hotel Marshyangdi) at thamel in Kathmandu(1290m./4273). Stay there overnight on B/B basis.

Day 2 : Visit world heritage sites in Kathmandu
Full day Kathmandu sight seeing (world heritages sites) -  Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Boudhanath stupa and pashupatinath temple by private car/van (depends on group size) and tour guide. Stay at same hotel on B/B basis.

Day 3: Kathmandu- Bensi Sahar- Khudi
Drive to Bensisahar( 760m./2508ft.)5 hours driving by Private car then drive continue walk to Khudi ( 790m./2607ft.) 1:30 hour walking then stay there overnight at lodge on FB basis.

Day 4: Khudi – Ghalegaun
We walk to Ghale gaun (1540m./5082ft.) 5 hours walking then stay there overnight at home stay on FB basis.

Day 5: Exploration day
Walk around the village, visit local people, look typical houses, interact with them, test local food and many more activities. Stay at same place on FB basis.

Day 6: Ghalegaun – Ghan Pokhara -Baglung pani
The trail leads us to Ghan Pokhara for an hour and continue walking to Baglung pani(1595m./5264ft.) 4 hours then stay there overnight at home stay on FB basis.

Day 7: Baglungpani - laxmi Bazar
We head to another beautiful typical village Laxmi Bazzar( 1300m./4290ft.) 5 hours walking then stay there overnight at home stay on FB basis.

Day 8: Laxmi Bazar - Begnas Lake-Pokhara

The trail ends for trekking at Begnas Lake after walking 2/3 hours then drive 45 minutes to Pokhara. Stay at selected hotel ( Hotel Panorama point) at lake side in Pokhara. Stay overnight on b/b plan.

Day 9: Pokhara- Kathmandu

Drive to Kathmandu by tourist bus at 7:30am (200 km. 6/7 hours driving) and over night at selected hotel ( Hotel Marshyangdi) at thamel in Kathmandu on b/b plan. In the evening, you are cordially invited to a farewell dinner where you will experience typical Nepali food and cultural entertainment, courtesy of Nepal Alternative Treks. Stay there overnight at the hotel on b/b basis.

Day 10: Nepal Alternative Treks provides you free transportation to Trivuwan international airport and departure to your home or other destination.

1. Is previous hiking experience required to go on a trek ?
As long as you are in good physical shape, you do not require any hiking experience for short treks. However, if you are planning a trek longer than a week, some physical fitness programs such as running, swimming, hiking is recommended before you embark on a trek.
