Mera Peak climb and continue crossing over Mingmo La Pass is another lifetime adventure in Nepal Himalayas. This 3 weeks course takes you to the summit of Mera Peak – Nepal’s highest trekking peak and continually leads to the glacial pass Mingmo La. The trek can be tough en route to cross over Mingmo La as the route follows the glacial moraine. The trek provide the fantastic views of Nepal’s tallest peaks including Mt. Makalu, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Amadablam, Khantega, Thamserku and many others. This challenging trek gives you unforgettable achievement for the lifetime.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,295 m/4,273 ft.)
Arriving in Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), you will be met by a Nepal Alternative Treks airport representative. Transfer by Private car/ Van (depends on size of group) to the selected hotel ( Hotel Marshyangdi) at thamel in Kathmandu . Stay overnight on B/B basis.

Day 2:  Visit world heritage sites in Kathmandu
Full day Kathmandu sight seeing (world heritages sites) -  Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Boudhanath stupa and pashupatinath temple by private car/van (depends on group size) and tour guide. Stay at same hotel on b/b basis.      

Day 3 : Kathamandu-Lukla- Chutkot
A magnificent 35 minute flight to Lukla (2800m./9240ft.)  and an exciting landing  on a steep mountain runway brings us to the start of our trek. We head up the Dudh Koshi Valley and climb up to Chutok la pass then we reach Chutok (2800m./9240ft.). We stay there at camp on FB basis.

Day 4: Chutok- Col  Khari La- Pangkongma
The trail leads us to Pangkongma (2950 m./9735ft.) 6 hours walking. After the pass the trail carries on mountainsides through the Khari Khola valley.  We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 5: Pangkongma- Kurke
We walk today to Kurke (3800m./12540ft.) 5 hours walking . A magnificent route via mountains crests through rocky and wild landscapes. We go through a pass and enjoy a splendid panorama of woody regions below us. We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 6: Kurke - Thuli Kharka
We head to Thuli Kharka(4200 m./13860ft.) 6 hours walking. Climb up to a pass at 4400 m and descend towards Thuli Karkha, meaning "vast pasture".  We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 7: Thuli Kharka – Khote
We descend to Khote (3600 m./11880ft.) 5 hours walking. firstly by pleasant meadows, and lower down through forests of blue Himalayan pines and rhododendrons. Beautiful views of the south side of Mera Peak Camp near the Hinku River. We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 8: Khote - Tangnag
We trek to Tagnag(4350 m./14355ft.) 6 hours walking. Climb up the Hinku valley through summer pastures. Near Lungsamba, the valley narrows, wedged between the Kusum Kangru (6369 m) and the west summit of Mera Peak (6255 m). We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 9: Acclimatization at Tangnag.
We have acclimatization day today to make sure that we reach our destination. We stay at same place overnight on FB basis.

Day 10: Tangnag – Khare
We head further to Khare (4900 m./16170ft.) 4 hours walking. Climb up along the lateral moraine of the Dig Glacier Interesting prospect of the Mera Peak. We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 11: Khare - Mera La- Base camp
We ascent to Mera La (5415 m./17869ft.) -Base Camp (5300 m) 5 hours walking. Progress on the snowy glacier, approaching the pass the slope becomes steep.  We make a Camp site on a moraine field, bellow the pass then stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 12: Base Camp - High Camp
We ascent continue to High camp (5800 m.19140ft)4 hours walking. This is one of the best parts of the trek. Stunning panorama of giants mountains rising above 7000 m, among the highest on earth: Chamlang (7290 m), Makalu (8475 m) and Baruntse (7220 m) to the east, Everest (8848 m), Lhotse (8501 m) and Nuptse to the north, and Ama Dablam, Cho Oyo (8153 m) and Kantega on west. We make a Camp on a formation of rocks separating the Mera and Naulekh glaciers.  We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 13: Mera Peak summit - return to the Base Camp
We begin to ascent Mera peak (6476m./21370ft.) and return to Base camp ( 5340m./17622ft.) 10 hours walking.  We Ascent of the Mera Peak central summit by the north face and Steady progress on a snowy glacier with few crevasses. It is only on nearing the summit that the slope takes a steeper gradient, around 45°.  We stay at Base camp at tent on FB basis.

Day 14: Extra day for safety
The ascension can be postponed in case of bad weather. So we will have extra day for safety climbing.

Day 15: Base Camp - Hunku Khola
We walk to Hunko Khola( 4900m./16170ft) 5 hours walking. We climb up the Hunku Khola valley, with beautiful sights of Chamlang (7290 m).  We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 16: Hunku Khola - Hunku Nup Lake
We walk to Hunku Nup Lake (5350 m./17655ft.) 5 hours walking. We leave behind us the Hunku Khola valley and progress on moraines towards Mingbo La. We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 17: Hunku Nup Lake - Mingbo La Pass - Nare Glacier
We trek to Nare Glacier ( 5300m./17490ft.) via Mingmo La pass( 5817m./19196ft.) 9 hours walking. We Progress for 3 hours on the Hunku Nup glacier before reaching the pass, the crossing of which is delicate. Setting up a 150 m fixed rope is sometimes necessary to get onto the Nare glacier. We make a Camp on a moraine field and stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 18: Nare Glacier  - Pangboche
We trek down to Pangboche (3890m./12837ft.)5 hours walking.  By a good trail, we reach the Mingbo village, then Pangboche, which shelters the most ancient monastery in the Khumbu. Awesome views of the Ama Dablam.  We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 19: Pangboche – Tengpoche- Namche Bazzar
We walk down hill to Tyangboche (3867m./12761ft.) and continue walk to Namche Bazzar  (3440 m./11352ft.) 6 hours walking. Tengboche monastery, situated in a glade surrounded by dwarf fir trees and rhododendrons, is the main Buddhist centre of Khumbu which we will visit in Tyangboche. We stay at Namche bazzar at tent on FB basis.

Day 20: Namche bazzar- Phakding- Lukla
Today the trail steeply descends to the Hillary Suspension Bridge and then continues on an easy natural walk to phakding. After a lunch, trail will lead you back to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft) 6/7 hours walking. On arrival in Lukla you will have time to relax, stretch those sore legs and celebrate the completion of your trek. Stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 21: Lukla-  Kathmandu
In the morning, we rise early for breakfast, then walk to the airport. Before boarding the flight to Katmandu, you say goodbye to the porters and also goodbye to the mountains. The plane rolls down the short runway, then soars across the Dudh Kosi River and makes its way back to Katmandu. In the evening, you are cordially invited to a farewell dinner where you will experience typical Nepali food and cultural entertainment, courtesy of Nepal Alternative Treks. Stay overnight at the selected hotel ( Hotel Marshyandi) at thamel in kathmandu on b/b basis.

Day 22: Leisure day in Kathmandu
This pleasant day you may have full day at leisure and either relaxes at hotel because you may have tired body and sore legs from the trip. This one extra day we use as a reserve day just in case if you need one extra day on trip or some time flight to/from Lukla can be cancelled or delay so always good to have this one reserve day after your trip. Stay overnight  at same hotel on b/b plan.

Day 23: Departure to your home
Nepal alternative treks provide you free transportation to Trivuwan international airport and departure to your home or other destination.
